Goals 2002-2003 
Building the New Environment

Goal 1.

 

Revisit the CAES Strategic and Programmatic Plan with regard to continued implementation in light of research, extension and instructional needs and expectations of stakeholders in concert with current and projected funding levels. (Clifton)

Goal 2.   Restructure CAES animal programs and develop plans for future animal and facility requirements in light of evolving college and university programmatic needs. (Bridges)
Goal 3.   Develop meaningful, collaborative relationships in teaching, research and extension with other institutions in the state and region with particular emphasis on Fort Valley State University. (Knauft, Cherry, Tyson)
Goal 4.   Develop operational plan for supporting and enhancing agricultural profitability and the rural economy. (All)
Goal 5.   Implement the recently approved Agricultural Technology major on the Tifton Campus and the new Biotechnology major on the Athens Campus. (Knauft)
     
Target Tasks 2002-2003
Task 1.   Increase number of credit hours and undergraduate and graduate students by at least 10 percent compared with fall 1998. (Knauft)
Task 2.   Relocate the Office of Information Technology to the Chicopee Complex and ensure unit is operational. (Clifton)
Task 3.   Enhance capacity for collaboration with K-12 programs and for globalization of our curriculum. (Knauft)
Task 4.   Increase extramural funding by 20 percent in research, extension and instructional programs. (Knauft, Cherry, Tyson)
Task 5.   Increase development funding in the CAES by 25 percent. (Hill)
Task 6.   Complete search for Director of Education, Communication and Technology and reorganize unit. (Clifton)
Task 7.   Formally cooperate with Georgia Water Planning and Policy Center Organization in offering MS course work via distance education. Current and future UGA faculty teaching courses in these degree programs would be recognized as UGA faculty. (Shulstad)
Task 8.   Provide coordinated environmental education and agro-security training to extension agents. (Tyson)
Task 9.   Develop and implement tracing system and provide a monthly report on effort and success in extramural funding. (Cherry, Tyson, Knauft)
